This month I want to share another personal story; this time, about my daughter. You hate to see anyone you love be sick or suffering- especially not your baby girl.
My youngest daughter Rebecca went vegetarian for severe digestive issues when she was just out of college. She suffered from IBS symptoms anytime she ate chicken, pork, or beef from the store. Luckily, she was able to eat fresh fish without any complications!
After several years, she began reintroducing meat to her diet, but, again, it made her very ill.
When we butchered our first steer last fall, Rebecca tentatively tried some of the first steaks and was pleasantly surprised that she was neither sick nor symptomatic! While she couldn't order a burger out to eat- she could throw some Willows Farm beef burgers on the grill and have a delicious, easy meal.
The same was true when we tried raising a few broiler chickens on pasture. While chicken from the grocery store would affect her negatively, our home grown, pasture raised chickens were perfectly safe for her to eat.
Why?
There could be many factors.
There is the mental element of "I know where this animal came from, I know what it ate, I know it had a happy life, I know what vaccines and antibiotics did and did not go into it."
Then, there's knowing the scientific research that supports the bonafide health advantages that you are guaranteed by choosing to eat grass fed beef.
My family is my life- and being able to provide nutrient dense and clean food for them is a priority. I know that many of you feel the same and our beef shares are like meat/protein EASY BUTTON to reduce the mental load of meal planning.
We are also in the stages of making single cuts and sampler boxes available for purchase, So, keep an eye out for those if you want to try our beef, but you need time to clear out your freezer!
