Curtis Cumberland grew up on a small farm in Howard County, MD. One of six children, he spent his childhood milking cows, collecting eggs, baling hay, growing vegetables, and raising 4H steers. Love and respect for farm life has always been in his blood.

He met Maryanne, in 1984. She grew up in a traditional neighborhood with a family dog, without any knowledge of farm life. Maryanne soon came to love all things farming in the years to come.

They married in 1986 and began their family in Frederick County. Over the next few decades, they moved to Howard County with their three kids and worked in the plumbing and construction trades. In 2016 Curtis & Maryanne began Cumberland Development Custom Homes, building beautiful and unique houses.

Building beautiful homes is a great joy, but Curtis & Maryanne longed for something more fulfilling; so they began their search for the perfect farm.

In 2021 they discovered the historic Willows Farm in Union Bridge. The property was a gift from above and every detail fell into place- even things they didn't know they needed!

Together with their three children, Curtis and Maryanne provide all the labor to run their 165 acre farm. Raising the happiest, healthiest beef on 100% fresh grass hay grown on the farm is the forefront of the WF operation. Rotational grazing, moving the herd to new pasture frequently, is a regenerative practice that ensures top notch grass management and does not require supplementation with corn or other high sugar grains. They're even able to provide the herd with fabulous forage through the winter months! This produces better tasting beef while improving the soil and returning carbon to the ground. WF cattle never receive any growth hormones or additional antibiotics.
